1/10/22 – We are delighted for Badger and Cheeky: they’ve gone to their new home!

———————-

Badger (male) is an 11-year-old Springer Spaniel x Labrador, and Cheeky (female) is his 14-year-old Parson Russell Terrier best friend. They came into the Oldies Club rescue when their owner went into a care home, and are in foster in Chippenham, Wiltshire, waiting for someone to offer them a new home together.

Settled well in foster: Badger and Cheeky are really lovely dogs who took only a couple of days to settle in foster care. They love to be around their family, Badger playing fetch, and Cheeky snuggling.

Can be left for short periods: They do like to have company but are fine when left for up to 4 hours occasionally. Cheeky will whine on and off when left though.

OK with dogs: Badger is fine with dogs once introduced, but Cheeky can be a little wary of them. They need a home together where they are your only dogs.

Unknown with cats: We don’t know how they would be with cats. They don’t seem to pay much attention to cats they see on walks.

Fine with older children: Cheeky and Badger should be fine around older children who are used to dogs. They haven’t lived with children before but were used to having children from toddlers upwards visit their previous home.

Love their walks: They both love to go out for fun walks. Badger pulls a bit on his lead at times through excitement. Cheeky walks well and doesn’t pull much. They currently have 2 short walks of about 10 minutes, plus a longer walk of about 30 minutes, each day.

Good in the car: Badger travels well in the car, as does Cheeky, but Cheeky will whine a little bit at times.

Their favourite pastimes: Badger is a fun-loving boy who absolutely adores playing fetch, and having belly rubs and cuddles! Cheeky is a sweet older lady who loves to snooze!

Their dislikes: Badger doesn’t like busy roads with lots of passing traffic. Other than that their foster carer hasn’t come across anything they don’t like. We don’t know how they feel about fireworks though.

Their ideal home: Badger and Cheeky need to be rehomed together. They would like a home somewhere quiet with people who will give them lots of love and attention and who don’t mind dogs getting on the sofa or humans’ bed. Having said that, Badger will not go upstairs at all.

Health notes: They are both neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. Cheeky has had a lump removed from her leg, which proved to be benign. Badger has a fatty lump on his chest which is nothing to worry about.

More from Badger and Cheeky’s foster carer: “They are wonderfully friendly, loveable, cuddly and gentle dogs. Badger is the most amazing and friendly chap. He loves nothing more than to be around his family and to play fetch with someone. He does not bark or whine, either with people around or without. Badger eats almost anything and especially likes carrots and cucumber! Cheeky is a sweet and loveable little lady who is happy to greet her family at all times. She loves snuggles and cuddles and to go for short walks.”

If you would like to offer Badger & Cheeky a permanent home together, please read our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:

Email: rehome@oldies.org.uk
Telephone: 0844 586 8656

They can be rehomed anywhere on the UK mainland – the closer to their foster home the better though, subject to a satisfactory home visit. Note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to collect them.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
