2/1/23 – Pretty Maud has found a home!

Pretty Maud is a small to medium sized Crossbreed girl of about 8 years. She’s in a foster home in Norwich, Norfolk through Safe Rescue.

Maud would like a quiet home environment with at least one other dog, she hasn’t yet been cat tested but is very placid so likely to be OK. She can live with children of 10 years plus as long as they’re considerate.

Safe Rescue staff met Maud during a trip to Romania in February this year. She was curled up in a ball in the corner of a pen, emaciated and with the look of a soul that gave up hope long ago. They took her immediately and moved her to a safe shelter where she could be properly fed and cared for.

Maud is now in the UK having been restored to good physical health and is barely recognisable as the bag of bones we found all those weeks ago.

Maud is a quiet little girl who is gradually getting used to domestic life. She has really begun to come out of her shell here but needs a quieter environment to really bloom. Initially she was afraid of being touched but she is no longer running away from a fuss from people she knows. The next step is for her to actually seek out and ask for attention but that will come in time.

She is a major foodie and actually they are now having to monitor her food intake because she’s gone from extreme emaciation to slightly rounder than she ought to be!

Maud hated the lead at first but is getting used to it and starting to enjoy short walks, although can be a little determined to go in the direction of her choice. She has heartworm but has ongoing treatment for this that will come with her at no cost to her adopter.

Note: Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks for the duration of their lives. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used. Full information about their rehoming policy is on Maud’s details on Safe Rescue’s Facebook page.
