Toby is an 8-year-old Cocker Spaniel who is with On the Way Home Dog Rescue, fostered in Montgomery, Wales.
Toby is very happy and generally very well behaved, but he does need strict boundaries in place. Although Toby has not bitten for 5 years, he must have a home with no resident or visiting young children.
He is a typical spaniel who he loves his walks, and especially loves chasing and finding balls; he would happily retrieve a tennis ball all day long! Toby also loves to play “find it”, and of course loves a Kong. He also loves to have a swim, given the opportunity. Toby has excellent recall and he generally gets on very well with other dogs.
Toby is quite nervous and can be suspicious, particularly if people approach him when he is in his bed, or if they overly pet him. As such, he has lashed out at people in the past for doing this. Toby therefore needs to be petted on his own terms, and only when he wants it.
Could you offer Toby a sensible, spaniel-experienced home without children?
