So sadly, cute little Bo was found as a stray. Although he was microchipped, his previous owner did not come forward to claim him and now he is ready to start a new life with someone who loves and understands this popular breed. Meanwhile, he is being cared for by Chilterns Dog Rescue Society, near Tring, Hertfordshire.

Bo is an 8 year old male Pug. He is a very well-behaved dog. Typical of the breed description, Bo is full of character: charming, sociable, placid and, on occasion, stubborn. He is getting on well with all the new people he is meeting and is calm around other dogs.

Bo walks steadily on-lead without pulling but doesn’t wish to exert himself unnecessarily. A steady 20 minute walk twice a day would suit him fine, although he would also appreciate a secure garden to explore at his own pace. After this, a nap in his basket is a must.

Bo has not shown any signs of anxiety in kennels but, being such a people-orientated dog, he would prefer someone home for much of the day. It is not known whether Bo has lived with children, cats or other dogs, so a quiet, adult-only home may suit him best. However, he is proving such an adaptable little dog, staff at the Rescue Centre would be pleased to explore other options.

While Pugs can be prone to a number of health problems, they are generally long-lived and can achieve a lifespan of up to 15 years of age. As such, it’s hoped that sweet Bo has many happy years ahead of him. He is quite fit, and shows no signs of breathing or mobility problems but should not get over-exercised or allowed to rush around in the heat. He has been receiving ear drops for some infection and crustiness in one ear which is just about resolved. This will need to be monitored and it is possible more treatment may be required at some later date.
