This adorably handsome gent is called Henry and he is a 13 year old, long-haired, chocolate and brown mini Dachshund who moved from California 11 years ago. He’s a very well-loved little guy, and his owners are incredibly sad to have to rehome him, but they are moving overseas and he is simply too old to make the journey safely. He is being rehomed privately by them and is living in Bourton on the Hill, Gloucestershire.

Henry has a loving, calm demeanour with people but cannot be housed with any other dogs or cats. He is fine on a lead on walks, but does not like other dogs coming to his house. He will bark and growl and just get generally very upset. He’s never been in a fight, but that’s likely due to the fact other dogs are kept separated. He has warmed up to many family dogs, but it takes time.

Henry would be ideal for an older or elderly person or couple; he follows his owner from room to room and would sit on their lap all day if he could. He’s happy to do any walks offered but doesn’t need much exercise. Henry is crate-trained when left home alone and at bedtime and he has no anxiety in either situation. He doesn’t bark much (his hearing isn’t great now) and he’s never chewed or damaged property. He is reliably house-trained and will stand at the door.

Henry would be okay with older children and currently lives with an 8 year old, but he doesn’t really have the energy levels for noisy, younger children or too much play. He is neutered and fully vaccinated.

Henry is being rehomed privately by Sarah who has confirmed that she will take him back if his new home doesn’t work out for any reason. Prospective adopters will be carefully home-checked.
