16/08/23 – Lovely Lily and Milo have gone off to their new home together. What super news!
—————-

Although not related, lovely Lily and Milo have spent many years living together and, ideally, they would like to share a new home. However, Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Tring would consider homing them separately as both dogs are confident and resilient enough to adapt to a change of lifestyle with the right new owners.

Lily!

Lily is a 10 year old, fawn Shih Tzu (d.o.b. 19.7.13) and Milo is a beige and white Shih Tzu who will be 10 in September (24.9.13). They are becoming quite stressed in a kennel environment as they have led fairly quiet lives and, until recently, they shared a quiet home with an older lady. Sadly, frequent stays in hospital left her unable to provide ongoing care for Lily and Milo who had to spend a lot of time alone.

Milo!

Lily and Milo are happy, engaging little dogs, very typical of this popular breed. Lily is the more confident of the pair. She is happy to come and have a fuss and a cuddle. Milo is a bit more reserved but he also enjoys attention. Lily and Milo would make wonderful companions for someone looking for two small dogs with lots of personality.

Both dogs walk calmly on the lead and enjoy daily walks together and pay little attention to other dogs they meet. They have only done a small amount of car travel but would probably take to this quite readily and would enjoy trips to new places where they could explore.

Lily and Milo are not used to being around young children but visiting older children would not faze them unduly provided they were calm and gentle. They have no experience of being around cats but could probably get used to a confident cat in their lives, if required.

Lily again!

Both dogs are inoculated, microchipped and neutered. They are both in generally very good health but there are some specific medical issues which their new owner(s) would need to take into account. Milo has a small umbilical hernia which requires no treatment and a pea–sized lump on his jaw which is currently not causing any problems.

Milo again!

Lily has had previous treatment to remove a dermoid cyst from her right eye. Over time, this has come back. Lily has been checked by a specialist veterinary eye expert who has advised the eye is stable and that Lily is not in discomfort. There is no requirement to rush into further surgery as the cyst could recur again. Should the situation deteriorate in the future, removing the eye would probably be the preferred course of action to provide a permanent and cost effective solution. Despite this, it is hoped that Lily and Milo can both go forward to enjoy a long and happy retirement and bring a lot of pleasure to their new owners.
