10/04/2023: Lola has been adopted! Hooray!

Lovely Lola is a black Patterdale Terrier Cross who, it’s believed, has always lived in the same home and, in recent years, has been the best friend to a lady in the last stages of her life, even helping at local fundraising charity events to raise money for a cause close to her heart.

Lola is now being looked after by Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Tring, Hertfordshire, until her lovely, new owner takes her home. If you love the spirit, intelligence and resilience of terriers, lovely Lola could be the dog for you. She combines all these qualities with a kind, gentle nature and just asks for her teddy to sleep with at night.

Lola will be 12 years old in July (dob 3/7/2011), but nobody has mentioned to Lola that she is now a more senior lady and perhaps should be taking things a bit more gently. She loves to get out and meet people and daily walks with lots of sniffs are the highlight of the day. Lola has grown up as a family dog so would be happy to welcome older visiting children to the home but, overall, a quieter home life would probably be more to her taste.

Lola is used to being an only dog. She walks well with other dogs on-lead at the Rescue Centre and is largely disinterested in other dogs if they are calm around her. She can get a bit bothered if unfamiliar dogs rush up to her which is understandable. She is not used to being let off-lead except within a secure garden or enclosed area.

Lola has never lived with a cat but, based on her terrier instincts and a very keen interest in squirrels, a home without any small furries to lead her astray would suit best. She is used to travelling by car and enjoys trips out. However, if it is not possible for her to tag along, she is happy to entertain herself at home and, although not ideal, she has been left regularly for periods of up to 6 hours when necessary.

Lola has been fully vet checked and blood tested twice. She is in great health for an older dog and although the first blood test showed some markers were slightly elevated, these quickly returned to within normal parameters once Lola was on a more consistent pattern of diet and exercise. She has been spayed.
