13/10/23: Popular boy Scruffy has gone off to his new home!
——————

Scruffy is a 12-year-old Miniature Schnauzer who came into rescue as his owner was moving to accommodation where pets aren’t allowed. Scruffy is in an Oldies Club foster home in Addlestone, Surrey.

A good boy in foster: Scruffy settled in straight away and is proving to be a lovely boy.

Can be left: Scruffy is fine about being left for up to four hours when you need to go out. He just settles down and sleeps until you come home. Despite this, he loves company so is looking for a home with someone around for a large part of each day.

Good with dogs: Scruffy could live with other dogs.

Unknown with cats: We haven’t been able to cat-test Scruffy so will be looking for a home for him without cats.

Good with children: Scruffy is a friendly boy who would be happy to live with children who are old enough to understand the needs of an older dog and who will be kind and considerate with Scruffy.

Enjoys on-lead walks: Scruffy really enjoys his walks and is a very good boy. He doesn’t go off the lead as he’s quite deaf, so we aren’t sure whether he will have any recall. He’s currently having 1 hour of walking each day, and he loves it!

Very good in the car: Scruffy is very good in the car and just settles down.

Favourite pastimes: He enjoys following his foster carer around, and eating. He doesn’t play with any toys.

Scruffy’s ideal home: He’d enjoy living with a couple, or family, that maybe just have a part time job, so they can spend lots of time with him. He loves company. At night he likes to sleep downstairs on the sofa.

Health notes: Scruffy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has been wormed and flea treated. Scruffy has no ongoing health issues and is not taking any medication. He is slightly deaf though and has mild cataracts.

Scruffy’s foster carer told us: He’s a lovely boy who just loves being with people. He is very friendly and we haven’t come across anything that frightens or intimidates him.

If you would like to offer Scruffy a permanent home, please read our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club Rehoming Coordinator as follows:

Email: rehome@oldies.org.uk
Telephone: 0844 586 8656

He can be rehomed anywhere on the UK mainland – the closer to his foster home the better – subject to a satisfactory home visit. Note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to collect him.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
