Lovely lady Agnes is an 8-year-old Labrador Cross who’s in a foster home in Wymondham, Norfolk, through Safe Rescue.

Agnes is looking for a peaceful home with at least one other dog. She could live with considerate, teenagers but she does need her nap times to be undisturbed. She is calm, quiet and well-behaved in the home.

Agnes loves her walks, especially snuffly woodland ones. She sits nicely to have her lead clipped on and walks to heel very well. She happily jumps in the car, knowing that a jolly outing to the park is likely.

She likes playing with her doggy friends too.

Safe Rescue found Agnes in a public shelter in Romania where she had to endure harsh conditions and didn’t have much human contact. They say, “She is a sweet but cautious girl around people… isn’t yet asking to be fussed, but she’s approaching her fosterers more now when the other dogs do, so is improving daily…

“She is now spending more time lying on the rugs in the open rather than hiding behind the furniture. She still doesn’t yet understand why we want to fuss her but she’s gradually allowing it more and more so adopters should be aware that she won’t initially be a cuddly dog.

“She does happily take treats from strangers when on walks in the park, but will retreat to her safe space when strangers arrive in the home. She rarely barks, unless it’s food time, or she sees a squirrel. She has started to do happy dances especially at meal times. She loves her food!”

N.B. Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue.
