Flynn and Harriet are a couple of real sweethearts that have sadly lost their elderly owners and had their little lives turned upside down, now finding themselves looking for a loving forever home. Being cared for in a foster home in Swadlincote,  South Derbyshire, through Wonky Pets Rescue, they are hoping the perfect home is out there somewhere…..

Flynn is a 13yr old West Highland Terrier and Harriet a 15yr old Jack Russell X Terrier. They have spent all of their lives together and are best of friends. As their owners got older, one had to move into residential care and then the remaining owner sadly passed away. Their owners were struggling to look after Flynn and Harriet and when found by police they were in a poor way. Both dogs were filthy and matted, they were running with fleas, had skin infections, overgrown and ingrowing claws and dental disease. Now having been looked after for a while they have both recovered amazingly well and are now in good health and looking for their next chapter to begin.

Flynn is a typical Westie and is generally a happy and cheery boy. Whilst he is OK with a little stroke, he isn’t a fan of being handled around this legs or feet or having his mouth checked and will try and nip if you try and touch his feet for nail clipping. That said, he was a good boy being groomed.

Harriet is a sweet girl, and more happy being handled than Flynn. She is incredibly bonded to Flynn and looks for him all of the time for reassurance. She may have some early dementia as she can sometimes appear a little lost, but she is a bright and loving girl and has happily improved since arriving at Wonky Pets Rescue.

Both dogs love their food, especially now that their mouths and teeth are more comfortable. Their coats have also improved since being put on supplements which are working wonders. Flynn is more active for his age, loves a little walk and would adore a garden of his own to run around in. Harriet is slower and doesn’t need to go as far, is happy to stay put on the sofa whist Flynn goes walkies, or they can happily trot along together.

Both are happy sleeping downstairs at night without a sound and are fine being left for a couple of hours on their own in the day and also travel well in the car. They are currently living with other dogs in their foster home and whilst mostly they are fine, Flynn can sometimes get a bit overwhelmed. It is therefore felt that they should live without other dogs or  possibly with another small and gentle dog. They would like an adult home, with any visiting children being older and respectful of their years.

Flynn and Harriet need patient new humans that will allow them to settle at their own pace. Neither were housetrained on arrival, probably as they were not let out in their previous home. They have improved a lot, but Harriet at the moment still relieves herself indoors so would not suit anyone with a carpeted house.

This adorable pair have been given a clean bill of health and come with 5 weeks free pet insurance. They will make wonderful additions to their new family and can’t wait to start their new lives.
