Sad news about Pepsi — She had to be put to sleep, on the vet’s advice. Following tests and several different treatments, all to no avail, her digestive problems have got the better of her. She had chronic diarrhoea and was passing blood, losing weight and was anaemic. The vet had run out of options for her.

Rest in peace Pepsi.

Pepsi is a 7-8 year old brindle Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross (probably crossed with a Jack Russell) girl who is at the Ark on the Lincolnshire coast.

Poor Pepsi is getting very depressed in kennels – she’s been at the Ark since May – and, as she doesn’t like other dogs, she can’t even have a kennel companion to help her wile the days away. Ark staff are getting worried about poor Pepsi and hope she will find a new home very soon.

Pepsi was only adopted by her last owners last September – from another rescue – but her owners now have a baby on the way and so feel they cannot keep Pepsi. The original rescue wouldn’t take Pepsi back so she is lucky that she has managed to find a place at the Ark.

Pepsi is great with adults and is a lively and friendly girl but she doesn’t like children, dogs or cats. She also dislikes hoovers, hosepipes and brushes – obviously not a fan of cleaning, and who can blame her for that! :)

She’s a busy, active girl, who hasn’t shown any aggression. She is house-trained and can safely be left for a reasonable time, but she will grab shoes when people are about to leave the house, although she’ll leave when told! She’s used to sleeping in the bedroom, travels well and enjoys playing with her toys. She only pulls on the lead when she sees another dog; she hasn’t been off the lead. Her recall is good in the garden and she’ll need a secure garden as she can jump over a 4’ fence.

Pepsi is neutered and vaccinated. She had a polyp removed from her bottom in 2006 and now needs careful diet. She also has a collapsing trachea so it sounds as though she has a cough, and she must be walked on a harness. She therefore needs a home where her family will take on board her health needs.

Barbara at the Ark says: Pepsi is becoming depressed in kennels and we desperately need to find her a home soon. We can’t give her a companion to share her pen with as she doesn’t get along with other dogs. What Pepsi needs is more constant love and attention than we are able to give her i.e. a home of her own and the one to one love of a human companion. Can anybody help this lovely, but unhappy girl?
