1/2/18 – Barney has found a lovely retirement home in Derbyshire after having a storm of applications thanks to being seen on the Oldies Club website. On arrival at his new home he had a good sniff all the way around the garden and then had his tea. He found his new bed and then set about getting to know his new Mum.

Cutie-boy Barney is a 13 year old pedigree Border Terrier in the care of Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Tring, Hertfordshire. He can live with sensible older children and other friendly dogs. He’s a dear old sausage!
CDRS say, “Barney is a gentle soul who has grown old with the people he has lived with all his life. For the first part of his life Barney enjoyed long country walks and exploring all the holes and hedgerows he could find. Recently, the ill health of his owners has limited his activity to the occasional short walk, a wander round the garden with the rest of the day spent curled up in his bed. While Barney would be best suited to a quiet home, staff caring for him feel that with more interest and stimulation in his life, Barney could get at least some of his old bounce back and still enjoy a happy retirement.
“Barney has met visiting grandchildren and is friendly towards them. He has had limited interactions with other dogs of late but is being quite sociable with the new dogs he is meeting at the Rescue Centre.
“He travels well by car and is quite happy to be left for a few hours a day – he just sleeps. Barney may be elderly but, like so many Border Terriers, he is a game little dog with a great personality who urgently deserves a wonderful forever home at a time when he is at his most vulnerable.”
Barney has been recently neutered. He also had significant dental treatment with a number of extractions and is now much more comfortable eating – not that he let rotten teeth slow him down before. A little bit stiff and wobbly when he first gets up, but otherwise no major issues detected.
