10/08/2018 – Darling girl Phoebe has found a loving new home at long last.  We hope she has a wonderful life :)

Darling Phoebe is a 14 year old Terrier Crossbreed who came into the Oldies Club dog rescue because her owner was moving and Phoebe couldn’t go along. Phoebe is in an Oldies Club foster home in south-east Buckinghamshire.

A good girl in foster: Phoebe settled at her foster home within about three days. She is a lovely little girl who thoroughly enjoys a relaxing snooze.

Likes to have company but can be left when necessary: Phoebe would like a home with someone around for most of the day, but she has been fine when her foster carer has left her for 2-3 hours. Her foster carer leaves the house when Phoebe is sleeping, so she isn’t sure what Phoebe would be like if you left her while she was awake.

Enjoys being an only dog: Phoebe mostly ignores other dogs and doesn’t really want to interact with them. She doesn’t like being jumped on, nor disturbed when she’s sleeping, and she seems to prefer human rather than animal company.

Not tested with cats: We don’t know if Phoebe could live with cats.

Might prefer an adult home: Phoebe has lived with children previously, but we were told she is wary of young children. She might prefer an adult home, but should be OK to live with kind teenagers who would respect her preference for a quiet life and understand that she doesn’t like having her tummy or feet touched.

Enjoys slow walks and sniffing: Phoebe is very good on the lead and she walks slowly most of the time. She would rather sniff than walk in fact. She can’t hear too well so when she’s off-lead you need to keep her close. Phoebe is currently having two 30-minute walks per day.

Good in the car: Phoebe is very good in the car. Her foster carer tells us that having a car ramp would be useful.

Phoebe’s favourite pastimes: She enjoys cuddling, being made a fuss of, and walking close to you.

Phoebe’s dislikes: Phoebe doesn’t like having her tummy or her feet touched, so to pick her up you need to put one arm across her chest and one under her bum. She’s frightened of the hairdryer.

Phoebe’s ideal home: Phoebe would love a quiet home with people who will be patient with her and will be with her a lot of the time. She loves to spend time sitting in the garden, so her new home will need to have a garden.

Health notes: Phoebe is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has been wormed and flea treated. Phoebe is currently overweight so will need a sensible diet. She has some arthritis but is not on medication at the moment.

Phoebe’s foster carer also told us:Phoebe is gentle-natured, strong-willed, quite slow, and she likes to sleep a lot. Phoebe deserves a loving, secure home that she can call her own where she is loved and not hurried.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
