24/7/18 – Hendrix has found a home!

Hendrix is a handsome 9 year old liver and white English Springer Spaniel boy who finds himself at the Ark Animal Rescue and Retirement Home, at North Somercotes on the Lincolnshire coast, because he wasn’t getting along with the people at his home other than his male owner.

Hendrix loved and respected his male owner but was being dominant towards his owner’s wife and teenage children and they had become scared of him. Hendrix needs a Springer-experienced, kind but firm and confident owner – he would probably be best with a single male owner.

Hendrix has lived with a Labrador previously and is fine with other dogs when off the lead but he is defensive when he’s on the lead. He has no experience with cats. He is housetrained but at his previous home he was outside in a kennel during the day and slept in a back room in the house at night, so it isn’t known how long he could be left indoors.

Hendrix used to travel well in his owner’s van. He needs lots of exercise and he is great off the lead and has good recall. He tends to pull when he’s on the lead. He can be possessive over food and other items he perceives as his, and he will defend them. Hendrix’s new owner will need to be confident about dealing with this behaviour and working on his training.

Hendrix is neutered and vaccinated. He has a blocked fatty gland on his hind leg but is otherwise fit and well.

Poor Hendrix is obviously a very unhappy and confused boy at the moment and he needs a special Springer-loving person to help him overcome his issues and begin to relax. Could you be the person Hendrix needs?
