6/9/18 – Snoopy has gone off to his new home!

Snoopy is a Shi Tzu boy, aged at least 10, who is being rehomed by Ark Animal Rescue and Retirement Home on the Lincolnshire coast.
Snoopy was first at the Ark last April when he arrived in poor condition, covered in fleas, following the sudden death of his owner. He was then rehomed but he has sadly returned because he has not bonded with his female owner although he has been OK with her husband.
Little Snoopy is friendly once he trusts people but he can growl or snap at sudden movements. He needs a home without children. He hasn’t lived with cats but has lived with a 13-year-old female dog and was fine. He’s also fine with dogs when he’s out.
In his past, something has happened to Snoopy which has caused him to be very worried by people running up to him or appearing suddenly. He is afraid of sudden movements and he nipped his female owner several times because of this. He has so far been good in the kennels. He is cautious when meeting new people and was startled by the parrot in his recent home when it made certain noises. He likes playing with squeaky toys though, so those noises are fine by Snoopy!
He seems to be good around food and is fairly good at the groomers but doesn’t like having his face done. He is house-trained and will ask to go out, and he can be left a reasonable time. He travels well in the car in a carrier and is good on the lead but can pull – he stays on the lead as he has poor recall.
Snoopy is neutered and vaccinated. He needs a loving home where there are no resident or visiting children or elderly people. He needs someone who can be firm with him as he does have the potential to be naughty. It seems like he would prefer a male owner.
Snoopy can’t tell us what has frightened him and made him so wary and defensive, but we know that the right person is out there who will understand his fears and give him the boundaries and calm home he needs for a happy retirement. Could you be Snoopy’s special person?
