6/2/18 – We are delighted to hear that Tilly has found a home. CDRS told us: “I am sure you will be as pleased as I am to know that Tilly the Boxer has moved to the most wonderful new home near Leicester. Attached is a picture of her leaving the Rescue Centre. We couldn’t be more grateful for all your help at the Oldies.”

Tilly is a fairly small Boxer dog, born on 22nd October 2007, and she’s been a much loved pet since she was a puppy. Tilly’s owners have given her the very best of care, but sadly they are now ill and unable to meet her needs, so made the heart breaking decision to let her find a new home. Tilly is now in the care of Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Hertfordshire.

Tilly’s case is an urgent one and she’s looking for a special home with someone who can be realistic about the future. On arrival Tilly had several small tumours removed and the histology report showed that one of these (on her leg) was an intermediate to low grade Marcel tumour. It has been removed, and whilst there is no way to predict any outcome or if/when further tumours may develop, there is a chance that Tilly’s life expectancy could be limited. She therefore needs a loving home as soon as possible, with someone who will give her a wonderful retirement for whatever time she has left.

Currently Tilly is still very playful and active and she loves playing with other dogs. She could probably share her new home with a canine companion, but no cats please.

Tilly is very affectionate and she loves everyone, including children. She’s met visiting grandchildren, but in her enthusiasm to say hello has been inclined to send them flying! So either an adult-only home or one with older children would be more suitable.

Tilly has a good standard of basic obedience having attended training classes, and she’s relaxed when travelling in the car. She is used to being left alone for short periods of time.

Despite her age and recent diagnosis, Tilly still has the energy of a much younger dog so a reasonably active owner would be perfect. She’ll need a securely fenced garden too and obviously someone who has plenty of time to devote to her.

Tilly deserves to enjoy the rest of her life with someone special to shower her with love. Could you give her that chance?
