Lovely Lizzie has a tragic story of life in Romania when she ended up in a shelter where she struggled to cope without the skills others had learned as street dogs. It’s now her chance to live a new life in a loving home being sought by Safe Rescue in Norfolk.
Lizzie is a beautiful and dignified, 10 year old (born 1/4/2009), white Retriever or possible Cross. Life in the shelter affected Lizzie worst of all. As the oldest, she was the most heartbroken and vulnerable and she never dared to come out of her box in the pen in daylight. She would only eat at night and wouldn’t let anyone touch her.
Volunteers feared she was simply giving up and asked Safe Rescue to take her. Coming to the UK has been like a spell cast over this beautiful old lady. From the moment she arrived, she happily let her carer stroke her and now follows her everywhere. Lizzie is also happy in the company of other dogs.
Lizzie has some physical attention needed that simple love and good care will heal, but she is otherwise a very sweet and gentle girl who asks for very little in life but to feel safe and secure. Her skin is red raw in places where she’s been laying in her own urine, but a soothing medicated bath or two will soon have her restored to the beauty she once was.
Lizzie is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed.
