Cute pair Rick and Jack came into the care of South East Dog Rescue in Kent after their owner sadly passed away. They had been living in the house for 6 weeks after his death with food and water brought as often as possible. Prior to this, the owner had been in a wheelchair and the dogs had not left the house. They are desperate for a foster or furever home where they can be out of kennels and back in a home environment.

Rick!

Rick and Jack are both around 9 years of age. Rick is a black, petite, Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He is an absolute sweetheart who has suffered the most with the loss of his owner. He finds being in kennels very stressful and cries and waits for his Dad – it’s just heartbreaking. He loves cuddles and enjoys a bum scratch! He has a fairly good recall in an enclosed area. He travels well in the car, is a perfect patient at the vet and appears to be completely house-trained. Upon arrival, he urgently needed a dental which was carried out at the vets where he had 6 teeth removed. He has also been neutered and vaccinated and worm/flea treated.

Jack!

Jack is a very sweet and affectionate boy who also loves cuddles. He is an overweight, wire-haired Jack Russell Cross. He also urgently needed a dental upon arrival and had 9 teeth removed. His nails had to be clipped under sedation as they had completely turned into his pads which must have caused immense pain yet he still managed to wag his tail and come for cuddles, bless him. He also had several lumps which have been biopsied: 2 are just fatty lumps and one is a low-grade cancerous lump which rarely spreads, therefore the prognosis is very good!

Both Jack and Rick appear unfazed by other dogs, but it’s not known how they react to cats. They have met children and been great with them, but they would be happier in a quieter home with older children or visiting children only.

They are very low maintenance dogs who just ask for a quick stroll and then a warm bed and good food. They would be ideal dogs for a retired couple or for someone who has lots of time for cuddles but is not looking for an energetic dog. They are both neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
