14/1/20 – Lovely Ruby has found her new home!

Ruby is a 13-year-old Labrador who was an unclaimed stray and is waiting for a lovely new home. She is with RSPCA Essex South, Southend & District Branch.

Ruby arrived with a very nasty abscess on both sides of her muzzle, caused by an untreated bite wound. Ruby has had surgery to clean and repair the wounds (which went right into her gum, so it was a nasty bite) and she is in a temporary foster home recovering, bless her.

It was discovered via her microchip that Ruby’s owner died a year ago, but no-one wanted to claim her back. How sad for Ruby.

Ruby is a lovely girl who is very sprightly despite her years. She is in a multi-dog household at the moment and, although she rubs along with them well, there seems to be an element of stress for Ruby, so being an only dog would be best for her. She could live with children aged 11+ but needs a home without cats.

Ruby needs her new person to be around for most of the day, or to be able to take her out on with them on their travels/chores. So far she has been barking when left, as she is probably feeling anxious. But she will make a great companion for the right person and will make you feel very special with her affection and devotion.

She is playful and sweet-natured, loves to trot around holding her teddies, pottering about with you. She’s completely housetrained (although there is always the chance of an accident at the start with a new dog until the dog gets used to your routine and you get to know its need-to-go-out signals).

Could you offer beautiful Ruby the love and companionship she so deserves?
