10/12/2020 Theo is very happy to report that he has found his new home to enjoy forever.

Theo came into the care of Safe Rescue and, sadly, he was a very scared and traumatised boy having been rescued from a Romanian public shelter where he had been living for around 5 or 6 years.
Theo is an 8 – 9 year old, medium-sized Crossbreed and is safely living in a foster home in Norwich, Norfolk. For the first few months, he did not make it easy for his carers to befriend him and was terrified of being touched. A corner was turned when he was lead-trained as he really started to enjoy his walks and seemed to understand that he needed to connect with people to be able to go, though he still shied away when being stroked.
These days, Theo will tolerate very brief strokes or grooming but still will move away after just a few seconds if he is given the option to. Maybe this is as good as it gets for Theo, though hopefully someone with kindness in their heart to meet all of Theo’s needs without really getting a lot of affection back will be his saviour.
The affection for those Theo knows is there but it’s subtle. He will follow his carer from room to room and want to be in the same place. He will stay close on walks when the lead is dropped and worries if his carer goes out of sight. He definitely wants to be around humans but, in some place in the history of his mind, being physically touched by humans still presents fear to him and only time will tell if he will ever fully let his guard down.
Theo gets on well with the other dogs in his foster home but doesn’t always want them to lie with him depending on what mood he’s in. He could live just as happily without other dogs and he has previously lived happily with a cat. His main loves in life are food and walks.
Theo is neutered, microchipped and an adoption fee and home check apply.
