22/1/22 – Loveable Lexi has gone to her new home!

Lovely Lexi is a 12 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Jack Russell Cross who was offered a loving, foster home in Pevensey Bay, East Sussex, by the Oldies Club after her owner was admitted into hospital with a poor prognosis. She’s now ready and looking forward to her forever home.

At home: Lexi settled immediately and made herself completely at home. She can be left alone for a few hours, around 4+ hours, and would probably be okay with a full-time worker as long as she had a walk or a garden break at lunchtime.

Good with animals: Lexi is fine with other dogs and would settle with them. She doesn’t seem bothered with cats and shows no interest in them when walking past. It’s not known if she would be happy to live with them though.

Good with children: Lexi gets on well with children and has a 7 year old granddaughter visiting her foster home regularly. They both adore each other!

Out and about: Lexi is good on the lead and also has good recall. She often walks in fields past cattle off-lead and takes little or no notice of them. She has been past sheep but kept on the lead. She generally comes back on recall but sometimes her carer has to shout to get her attention. Lexi enjoys her walks and usually walks 2 miles in the morning and 1 mile in the afternoon.

Good in the car: Yes, Lexi enjoys being in the car and is an excellent traveller, ready for all those exciting adventures.

Lexi’s favourite pastimes: Definitely sleeping and lots of cuddles of course. She does not seem interested in playing with toys or balls, probably because she was not used to playing with them before. The carers have tried various things, but to no avail.

Lexi’s dislikes: She is such an easy-going lady, there are not many things she doesn’t like or is frightened of except loud noises.

Ideal home: Lexi would settle happy anywhere as long as there is a garden to enjoy.

Health notes: Lexi is spayed, vaccinated and worm/flea treated. She has been diagnosed with a slight heart murmur but this is not a problem at her age and there is no medication required.

More from Lexi’s foster carer: Four words sum up Lexi perfectly: friendly, loyal, affectionate and loveable.

Lexi can be rehomed anywhere on the UK mainland – the closer to her foster home the better though, subject to a satisfactory home visit. Note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to collect her.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
