25/10/2021: Luisa has been adopted! Hooray!

Lovely Luisa has come into the care of Safe Rescue recently from another rescue as she wasn’t progressing well there. However, on arrival they were pleasantly surprised by her confidence as they are used to rehabilitating more nervous dogs.

Luisa is an 8 to 9 year old, smallish Crossbreed. Since being in her foster home in Rutland, she has progressed well. She is now allowing and enjoying a fuss even from visitors she doesn’t know well. Lead training is an ongoing issue as she’d never been on walks prior to coming into rescue and the outside world makes her feel extremely vulnerable.

Without another dog, Luisa point blank refuses to walk anywhere but, with a dog she knows, she is trying very hard to combat her fears. Further work will need to be undertaken to improve her confidence in the coming months, but she will need a home in a fairly quiet area.

It is essential that Luisa is rehomed with another dog and no application will be considered without one. Luisa lives very happily with cats. Any children in the household or visiting will need to be old enough to understand her nervousness and respect her need for patience and space.

Luisa is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.

Note: Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from Safe Rescue must wear a slip lead on walks for the duration of their lives. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue.
