31/3/22 – We are so pleased to hear that little Callum has found a new home after being spotted on the Oldies Club website!

Callum is a handsome 9-year-old rough-coated Jack Russell Terrier boy who is with Chilterns Dog Rescue Society near Tring, Hertfordshire.

Callum lived in the same home with his brother since they were puppies. The arrival of a new baby prompted his owners to part with one of the dogs – Callum’s brother – to make life a bit more manageable. They hoped Callum might settle as an only dog and adjust to life as part of a family. While Callum was able to muddle along for a few months, he was not getting the time, attention and exercise he was used to and he was finding the changes very stressful. His owners believe he will be happier in a quieter, more stable environment with someone who understands the terrier temperament.

Little Callum is an affectionate dog who is keen to please. Naturally happy and upbeat like most terriers, he can be quite anxious if unsure what to do, and so he likes the security of being told what to do. He walks well on lead and enjoys going out for long walks with other dogs from the rescue centre. He is not yet comfortable about meeting large, unfamiliar dogs, particularly if they are off lead and rushing around which is all very scary for him and tends to make him quite defensive. That said, with support from rescue staff, his confidence and behaviour are improving day on day and he might enjoy the company of a compatible dog in the home to show him the ropes.

Callum is hoping to find an adult-only home with someone around most of the day. He needs a secure garden as he loves digging, and no cats or small animals to excite him. He is such an engaging dog and will make the right person a great friend. However, despite his size, this little powerhouse is so much more than just a companion dog and his new owner must be prepared to continue to work on his behaviour in challenging situations and provide lots of daily exercise.

Callum is inoculated, microchipped and neutered and has no known health issues.
