Sadly, Drifter is another poor soul rescued from a Romanian shelter over a year ago but now, luckily, is in the care of Safe Rescue. He’s now safely living in a foster home in Norwich until his forever homes comes along.
Drifter is a medium-sized Crossbreed believed to be around 9 – 10 years old. He was quite an angry boy on arrival, having spent several years incarcerated in poor conditions, so who could blame him? However, over time, he has come to understand that not all humans are horrible. Sadly, the effects of his time in the shelter have left him afraid of brooms and anything stick-like and he will bark and tell people off for carrying them. He also tells you off if you throw toys….. and then goes and tells the toy off.
Drifter was extremely stubborn to lead train but now that he has the hang of it he is enjoying getting out and about and all the new experiences. He is very food motivated and his confidence can be gained with ham. He can still be a bit cantankerous at times when things don’t go his way but, mostly, he is a cheerful soul who even enjoys a fuss and a bum scratch from time to time.
Drifter can live with other dogs but isn’t keen on young boisterous ones and will chunter and moan when they play close to him. He only requires gentle exercise as he is a bit rickety in places. Drifter would like a home with no children under 12 years and hasn’t been cat tested.
Drifter is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
Note: Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks for the duration of their lives. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used. Full information about their rehoming policy is on Drifter’s details on Safe Rescue’s Facebook
