11/5/2022 – Precious has found a home!

Precious is a very pretty 13-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who is in an Oldies Club foster home in Clacton on Sea, Essex, waiting for someone to offer her a permanent home. Precious finds herself in rescue as her previous owner sadly passed away.

Doing well in foster care: Precious settled in at her foster home within in a day or so.

Can be left but prefers company: Precious is OK to be left for a few hours, and it takes her a while to realise that she’s on her own, but she’d be happiest in a home where she will have as much company as possible. We want Precious to be very happy, so we will only consider homes where people are around for the majority of the time.

Fine with dogs: Precious is fine with other dogs and she should be OK to live with other calm, non-boisterous dogs. She doesn’t like big, noisy dogs though.

Needs a home without cats: Precious is in touch with her terrier tendencies and will chase cats.

Unknown with children: We do not know how Precious would feel about living with children and therefore we are looking for an adult home for her.

Enjoys on-lead walks: Precious loves walks but she needs to stay on the lead, unless in a secure area, because she is deaf. She is having 3 or 4 walks per day and is happy to go for 20-30 minutes each time.

Good in the car: Yes she is!

Precious’s favourite pastimes: She loves sunbathing, walking, cuddles and eating.

Her dislikes: The only things she isn’t keen on are being in the vet’s waiting room, and large noisy dogs.

Precious’s ideal home: A retired, fairly active couple wanting a sweet little companion would be perfect for Precious.

Health notes: Precious is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. She had tests which revealed some liver changes and is on SAMYLIN30 for liver support (1 per day x 0.99g) and for now she will need to stay on these. At her recent appointment the vet was very pleased with her latest results. Her glucose levels and kidneys are perfect and her liver enzymes are improving massively. Blood tests will need to be repeated in 6 months time and depending on the results her medication will either need to be continued or reduced.

More from Precious’s fosterer:She is devoted, loving and gentle. Precious from the word go has been a lovely loyal companion that soaks up company. She has beautiful eyes that make you melt and has enjoyed her walks and saying hello to the other dogs she meets on the beach. She loves the sun and would sit contentedly in the garden for ages. She is gentle in the way she takes her chews and approaches her food. She is a joy and has a calming effect on the household.”

If you would like to offer Precious a permanent home, please read our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:

Email: rehome@oldies.org.uk
Telephone: 0844 586 8656

Precious can be rehomed anywhere on the UK mainland – the closer to her foster home the better though, subject to a satisfactory home visit. Note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to collect her.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
