Gorgeous Timmy is a 9 – 10 year old, ex-working Border Collie who, sadly, hasn’t had one viewing. He is being cared for by Heathlands Animal Sanctuary in Cambridge since August and he is just lovely; a loyal, working dog, discarded now that he’s too deaf through sheer neglect to work anymore. Timmy is a sweet, affectionate, happy boy and he really deserves a collie-experienced, caring retirement home with someone who will treat him with the love and kindness he always should have had.

Timmy is very obedient, great off the lead, affectionate and gets on very well with the 6 resident dogs. He is getting better meeting dogs outside and will play happily with a whole crowd of dogs while muzzled. When he is not muzzled, he thinks he has to work and will herd them though this is improving. He would be fine going to a home with another dog but does not take well to visiting dogs and will try to see them on their way.

Timmy is clean in the house and good overnight. He likes his routines and enjoys going out every day where he can run for miles in the open countryside – thankfully he hears well enough to have good recall. He would prefer to live as an only dog or maybe with a bitch. A relatively quiet home with plenty of company would suit him well and sensible visiting children would be okay, but he does not want to live with cats.

Timmy loves his ball but isn’t possessive if the other dogs get it before him. He does have some collie behaviour but isn’t a bicycle or jogger chaser. He listens to commands and is highly focused on his humans. He is a very loyal companion who, although in his senior years, still has lots of energy and life in him.

Timmy is neutered, underweight, in generally poor condition and had to have 12 teeth out because the nerves were exposed. He probably went deaf fairly slowly and, being a typically clever collie, has adapted well already. He’s actually remarkably good off-lead in a secure area, particularly with a tennis ball!
