Cute Snowy is an 11 year old, adorable Bichon Frise who came into Oldies Club rescue as his owner was moving into care and the family were unable to care for him. Snowy is in a foster home in Wimbledon, London, waiting for someone to offer him a loving, permanent home.
Summary: Snowy is a handsome boy who bonds quickly with his carer. He is clever and learns quickly and is affectionate with the people he knows, but he is not demanding. A home with a garden for pottering in and someone around most of the time would be perfect for him.
Settled in foster care: Snowy did not seem upset with his move into foster care and settled instantly.
Needs someone around most of the time: Snowy has been left with his carer’s two dogs for about an hour but is very excited when they return. He would not be happy with full-time workers as he loves being with someone and would be very stressed if left too long.
Good with dogs: Snowy likes most dogs but is a bit reactive if big dogs run at him. He is much better off the lead towards other dogs when out for his walk on the common. He is currently living with dogs in his foster home and can live with calm, gentle dogs.
Not lived with cats: It’s not known if Snowy has ever lived with cats, so he is looking for a cat-free home.
Children: It’s not known how Snowy would react to living with children as he has not met any in his foster home.
Enjoys walks: Snowy loves his walks and he has been having two or three, 20 to 30 minute walks, two or three times a day at a brisk pace. He walks well on the lead; he pulls a bit at first as he’s so excited to be going out. When off the lead, he never goes far away and is always looking and checking that his carer is nearby. His recall is not great, but as he doesn’t go far away it’s not a problem.
Travel: Snowy loves the car. He usually travels on the back seat with a harness on attached to the safety seat belt.
Snowy’s favourite pastimes: He just loves being with people. He likes laying at his carer’s feet or under a chair, just as long as he’s nearby.
Snowy’s dislikes: Not much! Though he doesn’t like boisterous dogs.
Snowy’s ideal home: The perfect home for Snowy would be with someone who is home most of the time and with a garden as he likes wandering around the garden. Also someone who doesn’t have many visitors as he barks at the doorbell and at people who come into the house until they sit down, whereas he will usually lie at their feet.
Sleeping arrangements: Snowy sleeps either in his carer’s bedroom or on the landing.
Health notes: Snowy was neutered in June and is up-to-date with flea and worm treatment. He has skin problems, but he has an injection once a month for this which seems to work well. His carer has been giving him salmon oil on his food every day which helps. Snowy will require professional grooming every 6-8 weeks.
More from Snowy’s foster carer: “ Snowy bonds very quickly and is loyal to his main carer. He is a handsome boy, is smart and learns quickly: he can do sit/paw/down. He is affectionate to people he knows but not demanding. Snowy has been a pleasure to foster and I will miss him.”

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
