5/11/17 – Handsome Max has found a home :)

Max is a 9 year old cuddly-natured Staffy boy who is being rehomed by Senior Staffy Club and is in a foster home in Bewdley, Worcestershire.

Max is an affectionate boy who is with Senior Staffy Club because his owner could no longer look after him. When he first arrived at his foster home he was quite clingy – he liked to sleep on top of his fosterer! – but now he has settled and is sleeping well at night in his own bed. He is also now eating properly, whereas he did not really want to eat to begin with (apart from the odd stolen packet of pork scratchings!). The poor lad was obviously pining. Max seems happy enough when left on his own for short periods now.

Max once lived with a Jack Russell bitch, and got on well with her, so he may be able to live with the right dog again. He shows no aggression to other dogs while out walking. He walks quite nicely on the lead, only occasionally pulling. He had developed a habit of spinning if on a long lead, but is learning quickly not to do that.

He has never lived with cats but hasn’t shown any inclination to chase them (nor sheep, birds, guinea pigs etc). He is also said to be good with children, but isn’t known to have lived with them before, so children should be 10 years and upwards.

Max loves a fuss and is happy to be groomed. He has not been taught commands but he has good recall and is very responsive, so he may well be able to learn some new ‘tricks’! He takes treats very gently. Max is not a playful dog; it seems he wasn’t allowed to play as a pup and sadly still has no interest in a ball or toys.

Max is used to travelling by bus but has also now begun to travel in the car and he has taken to it like a duck to water, even for quite long distances. He is also a good boy at the vets, where he has been for a general health check.

His fosterer says: “I think I’ve struck lucky with Max, he’s such a gorgeous boy!” Max is in foster in the Bewdley area but can be rehomed anywhere in the UK.
