20/1/18 – Fresh has found a lovely home where he has a Labrador and a Dachshund for company, with newly-retired owners. Sounds simply perfect for him!
—————-

Fresh is a medium sized Collie Cross boy and is about 2 years old. Fresh finds himself at Chilterns Dog Rescue Society because he has a deformity in one of his front legs. As a puppy, the growth plate on Fresh’s ulna bone closed prematurely, so this bone remained shorter than normal while the radius bone continued to grow. Surgery as a puppy may have helped to rectify this, but it didn’t happen.

Fresh’s condition is stable and he is not in any pain or discomfort; he can walk with relative ease and does not drag his foot. Surgery at this late stage is not recommended due to the risk of the bone not healing and resulting in amputation, so no further treatment has been recommended.

Fresh is just a lovely young dog with a crooked front leg. No other health issues have been found and he is adorable in all respects. He is a very handsome boy with such a gentle nature.

Fresh needs a special person and a quiet home. He is always very happy to meet people and other dogs, but needs to do so in an environment that isn’t over exciting or too energetic. He is capable of light to moderate exercise but it is also important that he also has a secure garden to explore.

Fresh can be left for short periods of time but he would prefer to have someone around for most of the day. He has not lived with cats or other pets but is likely to be able to get used to them if required. He needs a home with no small children, simply because of his leg.
