18/04/18 – Nip has been adopted! Hooray!

Nip is a gorgeous 9 year old Lurcher boy who came into the Oldies Club dog rescue when his owner moved to rented accommodation and couldn’t take Nip along. Nip is in an Oldies Club foster home in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, waiting for someone to offer him a snuggly forever home.

A good boy in foster: Nip settled at his foster home within about 3 days. He is a well-behaved, playful boy and good company to have around the home.

Can be left for short periods: Nip can be left for up to 3 or 4 hours once he has settled in to his new home. He did have some separation anxiety when he first came into foster, but this has gradually improved, especially since he started having Zylkene. He whines for a few minutes after you leave him but then quickly settles down. Nip loves to be around people so wouldn’t suit a home with full-time workers. He might cope with short part-time hours, depending on the circumstances; for example he might settle better if he had a canine friend or even a dog-savvy feline friend.

Likes other dogs: Nip has lived with another dog previously and his foster carer thinks he would be happy to do so again. Nip enjoys being with other dogs.

Could live with a dog-savvy cat: Nip is currently living with a cat, but he wants to play with the cat, and the cat is not too happy! He should be able to live with a dog-savvy cat in his new home.

Good with children: His foster carer believes that Nip could live with well-trained, kind children aged 6 years upwards.

Loves walks: Nip loves walks and is very good on the lead. He generally has excellent recall but he will chase squirrels and rabbits if given the chance. He is currently having two 30-minute walks per day.

Very good in the car: Nip loves a car journey!

Nip’s favourite pastimes: Chasing his ball – he will do this for as long as he can. Snuggling-up on the settee.

Nip’s dislikes: He doesn’t like his owner to be out of his sight and will start whining. He is afraid of fireworks and loud bangs.

Nip’s ideal home: Nip loves to play and has boundless energy so a home with a family that will play with him and give him the attention he loves would be perfect.

Health notes: Nip is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. He has a tendency to whine when anxious and so has been taking Zylkene (a natural product that is derived from a protein in milk) which is helping him.

More from Nip’s foster carer:Nip is affectionate, playful, obedient and loving. He will make a very loyal and loving family pet.”
