11/8/18 – Obie has found his new home!

This big handsome boy is Obie. He’s a Dogue De Bordeau type of guy who is approximately 8 years old and in the care of Stokenchurch Dog Rescue at the moment. He is a real sweetheart who would love to find a new family who are experienced with big boys like himself.

Obie is clever and already knows a few commands and is eager to add more to his current repertoire of sit, give paw, and down. His recall needs a little work and he likes taking things at a leisurely pace. Even when he is running he looks like he is doing it in slow motion! He is strong on the lead due to his size and strength and he doesn’t even pull. His new owners will need to be strong enough to keep him under control when he is out.

One thing Obie enjoys doing is cooling off in the paddle pool at the centre. Check out these cute photos:

Cool dude cooling off!
I’ll just stand here for awhile. It’s very pleasant on this hot day.
All done, now for a good shake

Obie is a little underweight now and is starting to gain his proper girth with three solid meals a day. He needs to build up but not to the point where he is too heavy. He also needs exercise to address the lack of some muscle tone in the back and he does get tired after being out for too long.

Obie has been mixing with other dogs at the centre and seems to enjoy being around them. He adapts to their style of play. If he does share his home with another dog, this dog would have to be at least medium-sized because Obie sometimes doesn’t realise his size of strength. And any children in his new home would need to be at least 11 years old for the same reasons. He really like kids though.

Obie is a loving boy who likes taking it easy and being around people. He needs owners who are experienced with large breeds, but he really is very sweet and gentle, despite his size and strength. He will make a loving addition to a home and family.

If Obie sounds like the sort of dog you’d like to have around to love, cherish and appreciate for the large and lovely dude he is, please contact Stokenchurch Dog Rescue as follows:
