Castel is a smallish Terrier Cross of around 8 or 8 years old who is being rehomed by Safe Rescue and is in a foster home (FR007) near Norwich.

He has spent at least seven years in a hellish public shelter in Romania and was completely shut down when he arrived with Safe Rescue a few months ago. Poor Castel was so well practised in making himself small and avoiding standing out in any situation that his first few weeks in foster were spent bringing him out of dark corners and hiding places and putting him on beds and sofas or simply keeping him in sunlight for a while. His back legs were suffering from severe muscle wastage due to no exercise and he was hunched over.

But now, Castel is learning to keep himself in the limelight. He snuggles up on the beds with other dogs, asks to go on walks, wags his tail and happy dances at food time. He’s still not overly affectionate but he definitely recognises his foster mum and seeks comfort from her on walks. The trust is growing and the real Castel is emerging. Safe Rescue are so proud of this little chap and the courage he has shown to break free from the behaviours that have kept him alive all those years.

Castel needs a patient and understanding adopter who will show him the wonders of life that he was deprived of for so long. It is so important that he is pampered beyond his wildest dreams for the rest of his life!

He is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.

Could you offer Castel the wonderful home he deserves?
