Raven (Chilterns Dog Rescue Society, Herts)

29/5/19 – Raven has been rehomed! We have had this heartwarming update from CDRS: “Raven has settled very happily in her new home in mid Wales. Her health continues to improve and her new owners, who have had 8 previous Staffies, say ‘it is a real success story.’ We are just so pleased this lovely dog has been given a chance of happiness. Thank you for making the introductions possible”.

Raven is a small black Staffy girl, aged about 8 years, who is at Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Tring, Hertfordshire.

Raven on arrival at CDRS

Poor Raven sadly arrived at CDRS in a very sorry state. She had been living in the same home since a puppy, but, while she was much loved, her owners were completely unable to meet her medical needs, and what had started as a simple skin infection had, over the years, developed into chronic dermatitis. Poor Raven had lost nearly all the hair on her body, and her skin was sore and thickened as a result of secondary bacterial and fungal skin infections.

But a month later, Raven is transformed, bless her! Glossy black hair is growing back, and her skin is so much softer and healthier. While there is still a way to go, Raven is now ready to start looking for a forever home with someone who will appreciate what a wonderful dog she is.

Affectionate, gentle and loveable, Raven’s nature has not been impacted by her past neglect. She loves people and, while you shouldn’t have a favourites, she is ‘number 1’ with both staff and dog walkers at CDRS.

After her past experiences, Raven would love a quiet home where she will have regular exercise. She is good with other dogs and has lived with small children, but now she deserves a home where she will not have to worry about fitting into a busy family routine. She doesn’t want to live with cats.

Staff at CDRS appreciate that there are many staffies looking for homes, but lovely Raven really is a star and will make a fantastic addition to a household that can meet her ongoing needs.

Raven’s condition is being monitored weekly and continues to improve dramatically. CDRS recommend that her new owners continue with the fish/rice diet she is enjoying there, bath her regularly with the prescribed shampoo, and administer ear drops as required. Raven is spayed.

Could you offer this very special little girl a very happy future?
