6/4/19 – Smudge and Charlie have quickly found new homes!

Smudge is a smooth-coated 8-year-old Jack Russell Terrier boy, and Charlie is a wire-coated Jack Russell Cross boy who is Smudge’s son and is almost 7 years old. They are at Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Tring, Hertfordshire, following a change in circumstances at their family home.
Smudge and Charlie are good-natured dogs who have been well loved, but CDRS understand they have had very little attention in recent times, so they can become quite excited and a bit vocal when they first say hello. They have been used to a rural environment, living with older children who have now left home. After being left alone together for significant periods of time, they would really like someone around for much of the day if possible.
Smudge and Charlie are happy sharing a home together and, indeed, Charlie is quite dependent on his dad. A new home for them together would be wonderful, but if a suitable home for them both is not offered, consideration would be given to them joining different homes with compatible dogs to help them settle in. Charlie is the less confident of the two, but he loves his cuddles as well as his walks.
Smudge and Charlie are quite energetic for their ages, so the more walking the better. Charlie is used to being off lead and he returns reliably. Smudge is a typical terrier and he gets distracted by smells and noises in the hedgerow, so is kept on a long line. A secure garden is important for them so that they don’t get the opportunity to go off exploring. They have done a little travelling by car and CDRS have been told that, after some initial excitement, they do relax in the car.
Smudge and Charlie would suit a home with someone used to terriers, with time to invest in them – for walking, training and companionship. That person, or people, will be well-rewarded with loyalty and affection from these lovely boys. They could live with other dogs and with children, but not cats.
No health issues were detected at their vet checks. They are both neutered.
