12/10/19 – Gorgeous Ty has been rehomed!

Handsome Ty is a male Alaskan Malamute X German Shepherd who is looking for a loving, calm home with the help of Ark Animal Rescue on the Lincolnshire coast. He had been in his recent home since he was a puppy, but his family is moving and could not take him with them. Ty is not happy in kennels and would love to find his forever home soon.

Ty will be 11 years old in November (born 28/11/08) and is a large and friendly gent. He’s very affectionate and likes to sit on your feet. He has lived with a baby of one year old and was very good. Ty has lived with two other dogs and was very good with them and is also very good with livestock, including sheep. He has not lived with cats but doesn’t like them and he doesn’t like aggressive dogs.

This is what the Ark has to say about him:
Ty has never shown any aggression and is good around food, in kennels, at the vets and the groomers. He’s house-trained, will howl to be let out and can be left for several hours. He slept indoors in a dedicated dog room, is vocal when travelling, can pull on the lead but is very good off lead and has very good recall.

Ty likes footballs and soft toys but will destroy them if left with them. Ty is a great all-rounder and can live in any environment but would prefer not to share his home with cats.

Ty is a lovely gentle lad despite his large size. He’s larger than a Shepherd and weighs more than 60kgs but is a real gentle, gentle giant. He loves his walks, pulls on his lead at first but then settles and walks nicely. He’s happy to be bathed with a hosepipe (this boy is too big to get into the average household shower!). He has the double coat of the Malamute and is shedding at the moment, so any prospective owner must be prepared for fur around the house and he’ll need regular grooming. We’ve all fallen for him and don’t want to see such a big dog overlooked in kennels for long. He’s well worth consideration for anybody with room for a large dog.”

Ty has been neutered and his vaccinations are up-to-date. He has age-related joint issues but is not on any treatment and is otherwise fit and well. He eats small kibble complete dry food and meat but can’t have rice or meat in gravy as they upset his stomach.
