Mirabel is a Terrier Cross, aged about 7, who is with Safe Rescue, fostered near Norwich.

Mirabel has been with Safe Rescue for over two years but she was so traumatised at first that she is only now ready to be adopted into the right home.

Mirabel had a fear of humans when she arrived and it has taken a long time to convince her that no-one means her any harm. She is still cautious with strangers but miraculously will now let people she doesn’t know stroke her.

Mirabel is now capable of love and, when she is settled in a home, will even cuddle up on the sofa next to people. There are still things that spook her and she still will not tolerate being picked up, but from the deeply damaged girl that arrived two years ago a sweet and sometimes even affectionate little girl has emerged.

Mirabel absolutely loves her walks. She enjoys the company of other dogs but cannot live with cats or children. She is not an “instant pet” but she is living proof that love and patience can win the day with even the most broken of souls.
