23/03/2022 – Titan has been adopted! Hooray for failed fosters! Good job Titan!
Titan is a 10 year old, male Akita cross who is currently resting his long legs in a comfy foster home in Essex, through RSPCA Essex South, Southend & District Branch. He gets on really well with the resident female dog.
Titan lived with his previous family since a puppy but some very difficult circumstances meant he needed a new home. He struggled in kennels and so he was moved into a foster home where he quickly settled in.
Akita types are loyal breeds who bond extremely strongly with their people. They can be selective and aloof with strangers and Titan is a perfect example of this. He seems to gain comfort and confidence from being with his foster sister, especially out on walks where he can still be a bit anxious about too many new things all at once. Approaching strangers and moving objects such as pushchairs and bicycles can be a bit overwhelming for him, so options for quieter walks would be ideal for his new home.
Titan is looking for a quiet home with adopters that have experience with large breeds like Akitas. Although he looks like a cuddly teddy bear he is quite selective about who gets his affection and trust must be earned at his own pace.
Another dog in the home would be ideal as Titan does seem to enjoy canine company very much. Akitas usually prefer dogs of the opposite sex. Any children must be of secondary school age or over. Titan is a large dog of 57kg and is strong and a bit worried on walks, so strong grownups are needed for walks. Titan has never lived with cats and he has no wish to try it. Fast little sharp-clawed things, you can’t trust them! Titan is neutered, vaccinated, flea and worm treated.
