7/12/23 – Rio has found a home!

————-

Rio is about 10 years old and has had a hard life on the steets of Bosnia. He’s now safe in the UK, in a DNV Save Animals foster home near Dumfries in Southern Scotland. They rehome their dogs across the UK.

Handsome Rio is a gentle boy with lovely a thick, black and brown coat. He weighs about 25kg. In Bosnia he was attacked by younger dogs and as a result his tail has had to be amputated. Despite his experiences, Rio gets on well with other dogs, but in foster care he feels intimidated by large dogs in the confines of a home. He enjoys walks, playing with a tennis ball, and playing with dogs. He also loves going for trips in a car.

Sweet-natured Rio loves his food, going for walks, having his tum tickled, and getting his human to throw his rag toy and then play tug of war with him. He is very affectionate and loves being petted and will lie beside you on the sofa and lick your hand while you stroke him. He is an intelligent dog who responds well to his name, and knows “Rio wait” and Rio walk” when out walking. He really enjoys countryside walks with their many interesting smells, and he has great fun rummaging in the hedgerows, and rolling around in the long grass.

Rio would like a quiet rural or semi-rural home as an only dog or with another gentle dog that isn’t too large. He needs someone who is at home most of the time and able to take him for gentle walks. Rio bonds quickly with his carer(s) and in the right home will be a delightful, loving companion. He could live with kind children aged 10+. His home must have a garden and Rio cannot live with cats.

Do you have the time, patience and love to give Rio the wonderful life he deserves?
