18/7/20 – Chuckie has found a home at last!
——————

Chuckie is a gorgeous Lurcher x Shepherd boy who has been with Greyhound Gap for quite some time. He is 10 years old now and he finds himself in rescue because his elderly owner could no longer manage to give him the exercise he needs.

ChuckieEars

Along with other Greyhound Gap dogs, Chuckie recently moved from private boarding kennels to Greyhound Gap’s own kennels in Stoke on Trent, and although it was a big change for the longer term residents like Chuckie, he has settled in fine and is enjoying having more interaction with staff and volunteers and getting lots more exercise. But even though he is OK in the new kennels, it really isn’t the same as being in a loving home.

We really hope that Chuckie will get noticed and finally find his new home. If you can’t offer Chuckie a home, please share his page to help him get noticed by as many people as possible. :)

Chuckie is such an active lad and he really doesn’t act his age, bless him! He relishes his walks and playtime in the paddock, and he is a strong dog – in both mind and body. He needs experienced owners used to big, wilful dogs, and in return you will receive all the love and devotion this boy has to offer.

Loyal, intelligent dogs like Chuckie really don’t do well in kennels, and because of this Chuckie is not getting a chance to show himself off to his best advantage.

Chuckie has been fine with other dogs at the kennels. He would be happy as a treasured only dog in his new home but he would also be fine to live with a mature, sensible female dog. He is great with children but, due to his size, dog savvy children aged 8 plus would be best.

He needs a little work on his lead manners, but once out and walking he settles down beautifully. He is said to be good off lead but slightly selectively deaf when it suits him! He travels well and is housetrained and is fine to be left for short periods once settled into a home.

Chuckie’s ideal home would be with a fit, early retired couple looking to enjoy having an active dog that they can take with them on outings.

ChuckieStands

Chuckie is vaccinated, flea and worm treated, microchipped and castrated. He has had a couple of ear infections and will not accept anyone trying to touch his ears if they do get infected, so if this happens he would need to go to the vets to be sedated.
