11/07/18 – Ziggy has been adopted! Yay!

Gorgeous Ziggy is a 9 year old staffy x lurcher boy who came into the Oldies Club dog rescue because his owner had young children, and another one on the way, and was struggling to cope. Ziggy is in an Oldies Club foster home in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, waiting for someone to offer him a lovely permanent home.

A very good boy in foster: Ziggy settled immediately at his foster home and has been a very good boy.

Fine to be left on his own: Ziggy is well-behaved when he is left on his own for a few hours. His foster carer feels that he would be fine in a home with full-time workers if he had a walk at lunchtime.

Probably best as an only dog: Ziggy is fine with other dogs when he is off lead on his walks. On the lead he will have a growl at other dogs. We don’t know how he would feel about living with another dog, so he would probably be best rehomed to be an only dog.

Good with cats: Lovely Ziggy is sharing his foster home with a cat and there have been no problems at all.

Used to live with children: Ziggy is used to living with children and we have no reason to think he couldn’t do so again.

A good boy on walks: Ziggy is excellent on the lead. He is also a very good boy off the lead and has good recall. He is currently having two walks per day of 30-45 minutes each walk.

Very good in the car: Yes he is!

Ziggy’s favourite pastimes: Walking, running, chasing his ball, and snuggling.

Ziggy’s dislikes: He doesn’t like raised voices.

Ziggy’s ideal home: Ziggy is a very adaptable boy and would fit into a family home or would be equally happy with a single owner.

Health notes: Ziggy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. He has had IBS which is under control with an appropriate diet. He had sore ears which have been treated but they might need an eye keeping on them in the future. Other than this he is in good general health and has recently had a dental.

Ziggy’s foster carer sums him up:Ziggy is affectionate, playful, obedient and submissive. He is an amazing dog – very loving, loyal and trusted.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
