9/10/19 – Milo and Phoebe have found a home – yay!
—————–

Cutie twosome Phoebe (left) and Milo (right) are 10 year old Yorkshire Terriers in the care of Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool. They are not coping well in kennels and really need a proper home soon!

Both these lovelies are good with other dogs and could share their home with similar, friendly ones. They haven’t lived with cats before but have been fine with some living nearby. Both are good with children. Given their age, it’s thought any resident youngsters need to be 10 years or older. Visiting grandchildren of any age would be nice for them.

Milo and Phoebe have had a lot of upheaval but are still friendly and affectionate dogs. Their former owner was working long hours and leaving them at home, alone the whole time. Poor little Phoebe found this too much for her bladder and accidents did happen, which was upsetting for everyone. However, the pair spent some time in a foster home where Phoebe could be let out whenever necessary and she was perfectly clean in the home there. She did have an umbilical hernia which has now been repaired, so perhaps that contributed before.

Health-wise, both have had full dentals. This was much needed, with Milo having 9 teeth removed and Phoebe 14! She’s healed completely from the hernia repair but she has a bit of arthritis in her knees for which she’s on supplements.

Milo has the start of cataracts in both eyes. His vision is fine at the moment but as he ages, it might decline. He has a history of the occasional fit. It was reported that he had about 2 a year, although he hasn’t had one since September last year. The vet has done blood tests which indicated an issue with his pancreas. This doesn’t need treatment, just a good quality senior diet. Absolutely no tit bits!

Their personalities are quite different with Milo being a little shadow, always on hand for fuss and Phoebe being more timid and self sufficient. They both need human company though and are desperate to get out of kennels. They can be left for a couple of hours when you need to go out and do boring human things but will be thrilled when you return and enjoy every minute they have with you!
