20/1/2020 Olive was overwhelmed by applications from lovely people offering a home to her!

Cute, little Olive is a 7 year old, rough-coated Dachshund/Jack Russell bitch (born September 2012). She has lived in the same home with an older lady since a puppy. Sadly, her owner became too unwell to care for her and she was brought to Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Tring, Hertfordshire, by relatives, keen to find her the very best home possible.

Olive is an exceptionally sweet and loving lady who gets on well with everyone. She would be best suited to a home where someone is usually there all day as she had never been left alone and, initially, showed signs of separation anxiety on entry. While this has greatly improved, friendly faces around to reassure her and, ideally, another calm, settled dog will be important. Perhaps a newly-retired person or couple looking for a small, fun-filled dog who can offer Olive their patience and experience and help her acclimatise to all the changes in recent weeks would be perfect.

Olive on arrival at the Rescue

On arrival, Olive was a little overweight having had lots of love and treats but little exercise. She has steadily walked off the extra pounds over Christmas and is now thoroughly enjoying 2 daily walks of about half an hour each. She walks well on a lead and returns reliably when given more freedom in safe, familiar places. She has only done a small amount of travelling by car but could get used to this with more opportunities.

Staff at the Rescue Centre have been told she is used to living with a cat and well-behaved, visiting children would be welcomed in a friendly manner. Olive has no known medical needs and has been spayed.
