27/4/2022 Gorgeous Barkley has gone to his new home.

Barkley is a gorgeus small-medium boy with the cutest short legs. He’s 10 years old and with Safe Rescue in a foster home in Norwich, Norfolk.
Barkley spent several years in the Botosani public shelter in Romania and came to the UK a few months ago to start his new life. In foster he is slowly growing in confidence. When he first arrived he was afraid of anyone touching him and would snap in fear. He’s not scared of people now but he still doesn’t really understand why you might want to touch him. He will let you touch him if you insist on it but it wouldn’t yet occur to him to approach for a fuss. Barkley does love his food though and this is definitely the best route to his heart!
Barkley is one of the cutest and most unusual looking dogs; he reminds his foster carer of a wombat. Barkley is in a multi-dog foster home and is confident in a large pack but he needs a more one-to-one environment to develop proper connections with humans. He will need one other dog in his new home though, and one or two more would be OK too. He’s not massively interactive with other dogs but just finds it comforting that they are there. Barkley is OK with cats.
This dear old boy has lived his life being shown only the dark side of humans so it is perfectly understandable that he makes you work a bit for his love and trust. He needs someone who can offer him a short walk or two every day and give him the time (and food bribery) he needs to become a more sociable member of the family. Any children need to be of an age to understand his character and how to behave accordingly so no under tens please.
Note: Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks for the duration of their lives. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
