Poppet (West Yorkshire Dog Rescue)

Pretty Poppet is a 9-year-old Yorkshire Terrier who is with West Yorkshire Dog Rescue. She can be rehomed within 100 miles of West Yorkshire.

Poppet is very affectionate and a lovely companion. But before you rush to apply for Poppet, you need to know that she is blind and that you must be able to offer her a suitable home where she will have a wonderful life. You must be able to make Poppet a priority.

Poppet cannot live with young children. She needs a home with someone around for most of the day. Please don’t apply if you work full-time, even if you work from home, as Poppet needs to have your attention. She needs a quiet, semi-rural home with a fully fenced garden with any steps fenced-off so that she can’t fall down them. She is very good with dogs and needs a small-breed, neutered, gentle resident dog to help her settle in to her new surroundings and for her to follow around.

You will need to be fit enough to walk Poppet several times a day as she loves walks and is really enjoying going out and about with her foster carer. Grooming wise, Poppet will need regular visits to a professional groomer, who will need to be patient and kind with Poppet to continue to build her confidence about being groomed. The rescue has worked very hard to get Poppet more relaxed when being groomed. You will of course also need to factor in the cost of regular grooming.

Poppet loves to cuddle up on the sofa watching TV. She is a good little traveller too.

Could you offer blind Poppet her perfect new home?
