Sammy is a gorgeous 11-year-old Collie Cross boy who is with Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Tring, Hertfordshire.

This handsome lad has had the most loving of homes until his lady owner passed away unexpectedly. He has been cared for by her friends for the past couple of weeks but now needs to find a very special someone to help him get his life back on track.

Sammy is a gentle, affectionate dog who gets on well with people and dogs, and he could probably live with a cat with the right introductions. He hasn’t lived with children and he is used to having someone around for much of the day but could cope with short spells alone when his new owner goes shopping etc.

Sammy enjoys walks twice a day, around 15 – 20 minutes each time. He gets quite excited when he sees his lead appear but then he walks nicely without pulling. He would like a secure garden to enjoy exploring in. Sammy seems a little anxious in a car but this may be because everything has changed so much for him in recent days.

He is in very good physical health for a dog of his age, if a little overweight. The only issue of note is a condition which causes his nails to grow more rapidly than normal. He has one tablet a day to manage this problem and his new owner would need to ensure Sammy has his nails cut regularly so that they don’t start to splay out and cause pain in his feet. He is neutered.

Could you offer this adorable boy a fresh start?
