Delightful Ollie (Oldies Club Sponsor Dog)

Ollie is a lovely 16 years old Westie who came into Oldies Club care as he was no longer able to stay in the care home alongside his owner. He settled in well and slept through the night – apart from a couple of times where he moved to rearrange himself on the bed. He had a few accidents but this was to be expected as he found his way around his new foster home.

Ollie went for as general health check at the vets where bloods and a urine sample were taken. It was found he had a water infection and was prescribed antibiotics. Luckily Ollie happily took these hidden in pate. Bloods revealed Ollie was slightly anaemic and his liver enzymes were elevated but the biggest worry was his calcium levels so they wanted to retest. The second test again revealed that these seemed marginally high. Due to his age the vet felt that further investigations wouldnt be in Ollie’s best interest and just to keep him comfortable.

Due to his medical issues and age it was decided that Ollie would be placed in our sponsor dog scheme. This means he will remain in his lovely foster home on a permanent basis, with the charity paying his vet bills for the rest of his life.

Ollie loves cuddles and has a habit of nosing his fosterers on their leg to get their attention. He barks when he wants something although it more of an oof than a bark.

Despite his age Ollie is pretty quick on his feet and shoots out of the door into the garden. He loves wandering around but also he enjoys having a roll in the vegetable patch before his fosterers are able to catch him. This has resulted in him having to have a number of baths or showers but Ollie seems to enjoy the experience especially being rubbed dry afterwards.

Ollie doesnt walk very far which is most likely due to his health conditions but even so when his lead is picked up he gets excited and runs around in circles as he cannot wait to go out.

Ollie’s fosterers are proud to call him part of their family.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor Ollie, or one of the other special oldies we are caring for in our sponsor dog scheme.
