3 April 2016 ~ We are very sorry to have to update Pru’s page with the news that Pru has sadly passed away. She is back with her beloved Henry, who passed away a year ago, after the pair came into Oldies Club care together. Our thoughts and thanks are with their wonderful forever-foster family, who provided Pru and Henry with such love and care.

Pru a pretty 14 year old JRT came into Oldies Club care with her best buddy Henry a 13 year old Black Labrador after their original owners split up and couldn’t take them with them.

Pru & Henry settled into their foster home straight away and were no bother. After a vet check it was discovered that Pru had an irregular heart beat and required a dental but on the whole was in good condition for her age. Henry had a few more lumps and bumps which the vets wished to investigate more. After Henry suffered a gagging fit it was discovered he had an egg sized lump pressing against his larynx. Due to its location the vets were reluctant to attempt to remove it and as Henry’s quality of life was still good it was agreed that it would be monitored along with medication. As Henry & Pru were such a bonded pair it was decided that they should remain in our care as sponsor dogs.

They enjoyed a wonderful Christmas together in their foster home and were lucky to be part of our Sponsor Dog Secret Santa and received lots of goodies including a new bed.  Pru was diagnosed with incontinence and development of cataracts but this didn’t stop this cheeky little character,

Unfortunately in April 2015 after a lovely day in the garden playing with new toys Henry took a turn for the worse and had to been seen  by the vets.  Sadly Henry passed away leaving Pru on her own for the first time in many years. Pru stopped eating for a while and cried for the first couple of weeks after dear Henry passed.  After he had gone Pru became very clingy with her foster mum but she has now settled again.

Foster carer’s comments about Pru: “She is a lovely easy going girl, loves her toys, lots of fuss and tummy rubs. She is very submissive and a bit nervous does not like loud noises and will hide away.  She likes her walks but does get tired and you know when she’s had enough. She is very sprightly for her age and can run fast to retrieve her toys. One toy in particular that goes every where with her. She is on medication for incontinence which seems to be helping.”

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor Pru or one of the other special oldies we are caring for in our sponsor dog scheme.
