Handsome Harry is a lovely, 13 year old (born 2/9/2004), liver/white English Springer Spaniel. He is looking for a quiet retirement home with someone home all day and, in the meantime, he is being cared for by English Springer Spaniel Welfare in north Devon.

Harry is a great dog. He would be a wonderful companion for an active retired couple, someone who has a nice garden where he can chase after his ball. He’s a real character and his foster mum would love to keep him but hasn’t the room for him and feels he would be better as an only dog although he had lived with a bitch all his life prior to coming in to care. He needs people at his time of life. He can be cheeky when at the vets and can bark a lot but, if he has his Winnie the Poo to carry, this keeps him quiet!

Harry is still energetic and great fun to have around. He is excellent with people and, though he has not had a lot of contact with children, he could live with dog-savvy ones. He loves being handled but can be wriggly and thoroughly enjoys a belly rub! Harry is house-trained and can be left a few hours. He sleeps quietly in a crate overnight.

Harry travels well and loves running after a ball. He doesn’t go far and always comes back for the ball to be thrown which he drops at your feet. He will pick up a chunky log and carry that as he likes to carry things, especially his Winnie the Poo! He walks fine on a harness on a long lead and is still very fit and agile.

He ignores most dogs but can be grumpy with others, so he would prefer no other dogs in the home as he can be choosy and does like to be the centre of attention. Harry might chase cats.

Harry is in good health and certainly doesn’t act his age. He has been vet checked, neutered and has had several lumps removed. Harry has had a thorough dental including 1 extraction. He is losing his hearing but his eye sight is holding up well and he is taking no medication.
