30/3/23 – Penny & Betty have found a new home!

Penny and Betty are adorable 9 year old King Charles Cavalier sisters who came to RSPCA Essex South, Southend & District Branch after their owner unfortunately could no longer care for them. The pair has spent the last 4 months in foster care enjoying being spoiled rotten. This sweet pair are now looking for their forever home together with dedicated adopters who are happy to take care of both the girls’ medical needs.
Penny and Betty have shown themselves to be the perfect house guest (except for occasionally not leaving enough room on the sofa for the adopters). They are quiet but full of love. They both enjoy lots of fuss and cuddles on the sofa and, after a leisurely stroll in the park, they are happy to snooze the day away. They know lots of commands and can be left alone for short periods.
Penny and Betty are currently sharing their foster home with a resident dog and get on well with the dogs at the local park. They also have lots of human friends at the park and will happily receive any ear scratches going from anyone passing. They are not used to living with cats, but could live with children of secondary school age.
After a concern from the foster family about Penny’s excessive drinking, urinating and being overweight, it was decided to test her bloods and, as suspected, she was diagnosed with diabetes. After countless vet visits, Penny’s insulin levels are finally at a level stage. Penny is on twice daily insulin injections (strict times and 12 hrs apart) and she will happily sit for her injections with the promise of a treat after. Betty has a heart murmur and is currently receiving medication for this. Penny and Betty are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and worm/flea treated.
