19/4/2024 – Such sad news that little Monica was diagnosed with an incurable condition and was put to sleep on veterinary advice. She had a wonderful last few weeks with the Rescue and this came as a shock to everyone.

Sweet Monica is an 11 year old Terrier with, perhaps, some Jack Russell, Chihuahua and Corgi genes in the mix. Her date of birth is 07/09/2012 and she was born in Romania but lived happily as a companion to an older lady since 2014.

When her owner passed away at the end of last year, a kind friend who knew them both well, took Monica into her own home. Sadly, a much busier household with lots of visitors, grandchildren and another small dog proved unsettling to Monica who had been used to a much quieter home where she had her own space. She is now looking for a loving, forever home with the help of Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Hertfordshire.

Monica is a clever, sweet natured dog but not cuddly. She would make a great companion to someone looking for a sociable but quite independent-minded dog who likes a routine. She very much enjoys her home comforts and, while she loves company, is not bothered if left alone for a few hours. An adult home as the only pet would be perfect for her.

Monica walks calmly on a lead without pulling and, now she is shedding the extra pounds that had accumulated, is loving daily walks in the woods and fields. She has only had little experience of car travel but, since coming into the Rescue Centre, has behaved well when being driven to and from the vets.

Monica is neutered and has no known health issues. She was quite overweight at 10kg but is getting slimmer and fitter with more exercise. She had dental treatment recently with multiple extractions but has fully recovered from this.
